FootGolf is a precision sport, a combination of soccer and golf, more closely related to golf. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf. Players kick a regulation size 5 soccer ball on shortened holes, with 21-inch diameter cups, in as few shots as possible.

Warrior Run Golf Course is Metro Iowa’s only American FootGolf League-certified FootGolf course. The nine-hole FootGolf course is built directly on the traditional golf course, and operates at the same time as golf.

COVID-19 Update

  • Tee times are only accepted one day in advance (large group outings can be arranged with Warrior Run staff).
  • Tee times are required (must specify for FootGolf vs. Golf). No walk-ons are allowed.
  • Players/groups must show up 15 minutes prior to tee-time(s). Those showing up less than 15 minutes prior-to, are subject to delayed starts or unavailable play.
  • FootGolfers must provide their own ball. Persons arriving without a ball will not be allowed on the course.
  • Carts are subject to availability.
  • Players pay per seat. Currently it’s 1 person per cart, unless it’s family, at which point 2 persons can ride at a time.
  • Group size maximum is 5 persons.
  • There are covers on all FootGolf holes (and traditional golf holes). Players must roll the ball over the cover, or hit the pin, to finish-out the hole. This is strictly to limit the spread of germs by touching the pins and/or cups.

  • Follow the FootGolf course map on the scorecard for tee box & hole locations.
  • Wear clothing comfortable enough to kick a ball.
  • Turf shoes, tennis shoes and soccer cleats are all allowed.
  • Always be aware of golfers on the course.
  • Pace of play should be consistent with the group/player in front of you.
  • Do not kick into the group/player ahead of you.
  • Do not pass group/player in front of you w/o proper communication w/ that group/person.
  • Max FootGolf group size is 5 players.
  • Never join-up groups (cause for removal from course).
  • Do not walk on traditional golf greens or practice green.
  • If utilizing a cart, no more than 1 person can ride in the cart at a time. It’s important that players don’t pile onto the cart after away from eye-sight of the clubhouse (cause for removal from course).

  • The player farthest from the hole is the first to kick.
  • The order of play is established based on the score of the previous hole. The player with the best score will kick off first on the next hole, followed by the second, etc.
  • If the ball lands in a water hazard, retrieve or replace it within 2 steps from the closest land point from where the ball entered the hazard (annotated by red line), receiving a one stroke penalty, or you can take the ball at the position of the previous kick and receive a one stroke penalty.
